WEARING MY UNIFORM TO A MEETING

I dream about my job a lot!

I was at work and about to go to an important meeting.  I stepped to a mirror and looked at myself.  I was wearing my old military uniform.  I was only wearing it for this meeting and for some reason it was required.  I also knew I wouldn’t have to wear it again.  I weigh more than I did when I served, so of course I looked bigger.  But the uniform also seemed to be almost too big and made me look even larger.  I studied myself and thought the uniform would look nicer if the skirt fit more tightly, but it was too late to adjust it. The meeting was in just a few minutes and it was time to go.  I was aware that there were women I worked with paying attention to what I did at this meeting and waiting to see what would happen.

SIGNIFICANT SYMBOLS:

Work-One’s present occupation and/or one’s duty or obligation.  One’s feelings about work or what is going on there.

Mirror- that which reflects one’s own image, experience or situation. The reflection may have to do with the symbolism: a poor self image, a split personality, etc.

Military- corresponds to order, power, discipline, or the relinquishment of personal will. Can represent a warlike environment or situation. Associated with placing oneself subservient to a greater goal or good.

Uniform- associated with one’s duty, occupation, or state of mind. Might be associated with fairness or balance.

Skirt- can correspond to one’s image, appearance, or a particular experience

Overweight- something excessive, overly pronounced, or very productive, or actually overweight.

I am at my present occupation (work) and am about to have a meeting to decide some issue.  I am prepared to fight (military) for what I think should be done to achieve fairness or balance in my occupation (uniform).  In observing myself, I appear to be overly productive (overweight).  I would like my situation (image) to be better (how the skirt fits) but can’t correct it as of this time.  I must fight for what I think is right. I am also serving as an example for others who can see what is happening.

This is a good example of a prophetic dream which reviews a situation to occur and reveals how I think and feel about what will happen.  Just a few days after I had this dream, I had a discussion with my boss in which I had to explain certain realities about my work and that I needed help.  I had to stand my ground as I beat down the unrealistic expectations of management.  The situation is not settled yet, so the battle is still on.  But the dream was helpful in that it showed my perception of what is happening and how I react to it.  It was an encouraging dream because it showed I have the courage to stand up for myself.  The dream also tells me that others are watching me and paying attention to how I handle this situation.

SINKING SHIP

A dream from my daughter.

My daughter was at her current home.  She had to fight for her life in a Grand Battle event.  She won the battle and then moved to her current home.  Then we went on a cruise ship together.  This included my daughter, my husband, myself, her brother and his friends.  The group also included a family friend about the same age as my son.  We were all together, talking, when the ship started sinking just as the Titantic did. We knew we needed to leave, but we were having a hard time convincing my son and his friends to leave their room, even though there was smoke and chaos everywhere.

SIGNIFICANT SYMBOLS:

Home/House-one’s personality or current situation or experience. The status of one’s state of consciousness.  For example, type of home or whose home can be a more clear indicator of what exactly is being addressed.   A friend’s home could indicate you are experiencing a current situation very similar to how you view your friend as living or thinking.  A haunted house adventure would indicate travelling through an experience which can be scary but is controlled.  An actual haunted house would indicate a state of consciousness filled with fears, thoughts, the past or that which keeps haunting one’s self.

Fight-a conflict with others or portions of one’s self. Could be associated with the need to fight for what’s right

Ship-one’s life journey. Having a particular spiritual voyage or experience. Obstacles along the way cause a spiritual inundation due to the obstacle. One’s life journey might be adjusted or redirected.

Family-can correspond to various aspects of oneself. May represent aspects of oneself in relationship to that person or talents, qualities, or experiences that one associates with that person. A parental figure could indicate the need to look after one’s activities. Might indicate a literal suggestion or a warning in terms of the person’s welfare.

Friends-if the person is unknown to you, could indicate as aspect of yourself that needs to be befriended. Can be associated with aspects of ourselves in relationship to that person, or talents, qualities, or experiences that we associate with that person.

Smoke-Lack of clarity or insight.

Chaos-may be symbolic of the challenges one is currently facing. Could be associated with emotional problems and upsets.

Room-often represents aspects of one’s self.

This dream shows that my daughter is currently in a situation or experience (home) where she is in conflict (fight). This is a very important conflict (fight for her life) and she wins it. She then begins a spiritual journey or experience (ship) which is similar to what her father, brother and I are experiencing, as well as a few others we know. But there are obstacles along the way which cause a redirection of our paths (fleeing the sinking ship). There is a lack of clarity or insight (smoke) amidst the challenges this brings (chaos). Some of us have trouble accepting the need to change (refusing to leave the room on the ship), but we try hard to convince them because we recognize it must be done.  Willingly leaving the sinking ship (accepting redirection on one’s path when Spirit gives it) is much easier than being inundated by Spirit (drowning in the ship). Inundation by Spirit usually means lessons learned the hard way (loss of job, divorce, etc.)

This dream could be applied solely to just my daughter, as it was her dream, and every dream is specifically about the dreamer.   When interpreting from this point of view (which should always be the first point of view one takes in interpreting dreams), she has successfully passed a very difficult period in her life (winning the Grand Battle) and is now entering a new period where she must take on more responsibility mentally, spiritually and physically (as represented by her father, myself, and her brother). This is difficult because she cannot see clearly (chaos & smoke) what could happen if she doesn’t change.  She knows mentally and spiritually what she should do, but is having a hard time making those changes in the physical world. If she continues as she is, then she will suffer a very difficult lesson where she is “drowned by Spirit” (sinking ship).  If the soul desires that a specific lesson be learned, then the lesson will continue to be given (in varying degrees) until this is accomplished.

In this dream, one of the clues which helped me to determine what the dream could be hinting at was given in the form of the family friend who is around the same age as my son.  This young man is very smart but not very driven.  He would prefer to have less responsibility.  But the dream is saying that there comes a time in every person’s life when you need to do more- take on more responsibility- because life demands it.  If you don’t, then you might suffer a hard life lesson that could be difficult to overcome, such as divorce or being fired.  The dream clearly indicates that this lesson will be for those of us in the dream.

RAISING THE FLAG

Odd dream.

In this dream, I was walking from one spot to another, intent on getting something done.  I began walking past a very large statue of a mountain and a giant flag planted on top of it.  It was a memorial to the Battle of Iwo Jima of World War II, but not the traditional one that Americans are familiar with.  This was a more contemporary version of the same memorial.  The shape of the mountain was outlined in metal girders in the same fashion as the Eiffel Tower.  A very long, steep metal ladder in the same material started from the ground and went all the way to the flag pole planted on top of the mountain. In this way, the flag could be raised every day.  An authority stopped me and told me, “You must raise the flag today.”  I was a little surprised but put my hands on the ladder to do as I was told.  The authority told me, “You only have to do it today.” I knew once I was done I could continue on with what I had originally been doing. I began to climb the very steep ladder.  It seemed dangerous, and the authority told me, “Don’t worry, I will help you all the way.”  This was a relief.  I thought to myself, “Why don’t they just use an outdoor flag so that no one has to raise it and lower it everyday?”

SIGNIFICANT SYMBOLS:

STATUE/MONUMENT-the desire to make immortal and unchanging a thought, a dream, a wish, an emotion or a person. Corresponds to that which has been raised upon a platform, for all to see.

FLAG-corresponds to national or international affairs. Acceptance or involvement in a particular group or set of ideas.

IWO JIMA-raising of the flag on Iwo Jima is a symbol of a terrible battle fought and won at great cost for the greater good.  It also symbolized unity for the American people during the time of a long and costly war.

WORLD WAR II-associated with an aggressive or hostile situation. Could indicate an inner stuggle.

LADDER-that which allows one to overcome a situation, an obstacle, or an experience. Climbing a ladder symbolizes achievement by taking one step at a time, growing in ability and experience, success, or the process of spiritual evolution.

There has been a general acceptance or involvement in a particular group or set of ideas (flag) that has been raised up for all to see (monument). This involves a battle fought and won at great personal cost for the greater good (Iwo Jima) in an aggressive or hostile situation or within as an inner struggle (World War II).  Everyone at some point is called upon to overcome a difficult situation, an obstacle or an experience (Iwo Jima monument) and in so doing exhibit specific ideas in the process (raising the flag).

In this dream, I am told that it is my turn to do this. I am also told that it will not be my permanent condition but a once in a lifetime situation.  The situation, obstacle or experience can be overcome by taking one step at a time, or one rung at time, until the event is accomplished (climbing the ladder).  I am told that I will have help in doing this, which is a relief.  My practical mind wants to know why an individual must struggle with particular situations when it appears there are easy ways to avoid them if one set their mind to it (using outdoor flag).

I am not looking forward to this.  I am assuming this has to do with my job but it could be something else. But at least I know, once it is over, I won’t have to do it again.

OFFICE IS FLOODING

A warning of events to come.

I was at work.  I had finished three separate projects and moved to put them away. The project paperwork consisted of three piles of restaurant tickets that I assume I had checked and totaled and rubber banded separately. I had a long, rectangular wooden box sitting on a narrow shelf.  I opened it and placed the three piles of tickets in the box for safekeeping.  As I did this, I became aware that it was flooding outside.  The water was rising so swiftly, it was already coming inside the office.  I decided I should save the project paperwork and opened the box again to grab the tickets.  But the water was rising too fast.  I knew I couldn’t save the project paperwork and get myself emergency supplies and escape.  I left the project paperwork in the box and grabbed several healthy snack bars that I had stashed in the box.  I wanted to be sure I had something to eat in case I was stuck somewhere for a long period of time without access to food.

SIGNIFICANT SYMBOLS:

Work-One’s present occupation and/or one’s duty or obligation.  One’s feelings about work or what is going on there.

Three-Body, mind and spirit. Trinity.  Great strength.  May represent a particular situation or experience of the same age in your life.

Paper-important message or insight.  Personal talent or need to communicate.  Self-expression and communication.  How it appears can indicate the importance with which it has been treated.  For example, wrinkled paper would indicate carelessly handled.

Tickets-one’s passage, entry, chance, or permission into the experience.

Wooden-new possibilities or something constructive about to occur.

Box-the conditions surrounding one’s life.  That which is hemmed in by circumstances, the environment, or one’s state of mind.

Shelf- a place of safekeeping or putting something away.

Flooding-corresponds to an inundation of water, spirit, emotion, or frustration. Something that overwhelms one’s situation; breakdown.

Food- nourishment or sustenance of a physical, mental or spiritual nature.  The type of food could be indicative of the quality or nature of what you are receiving.  Associated with spiritual truths, new ideas, or something that you’re feeding or that you need to feed to yourself or another.

I have physical, mental and spiritual (three) accomplishments (completed projects) at my present occupation (work) which have given me important insight (paper tickets).  These insights offer new possibilities but are hemmed in by the conditions of my life (wooden box) and I put them away (shelf) as I am ready to move on to the next thing. But an inundation of spirit or frustration (flooding) overwhelms me next before I can move on.  I do my best to hold onto what will serve me best in this new situation (food) and worry I will lose what I accomplished (leaving the tickets in the box).

I am being warned that my life is about to be very challenging.  I am presuming this will mainly be occurring at work, as this is where the dream is situated.  I am not looking forward to this, but at least I had some warning.  This will help me to be more prepared mentally when the unexpected begins.

MY AUNT IS MY WAITRESS

A foreboding dream concerning my work.

My husband and I stepped into an old-fashioned diner and sat down at the long counter that ran most of the length of one side.  It was very dark inside, as if it was late at night and the establishment had the lights on low.  At the counter it was brighter as the light from the kitchen showed through the pass-through.  I didn’t see anyone else.  The waitress set menus in front of us as we sat down.  I looked at her and recognized her as one of my aunts.  She was dressed in a typical diner waitress uniform and even had the cap on that went with it.  I thought to myself, “Oh, no!”  This aunt is rather crazy and spiteful and we aren’t necessarily on good terms.  I thought to myself, “She’s going to spit in my food at the very least.”  I wondered if perhaps we should just leave.

SIGNIFICANT SYMBOLS:

Husband- actual husband or what he represents to me.  Suggests literal aspects of the relationship with one’s husband.

Diner/Restaurant- a place to be fed or nurtured physically, mentally, spiritually. A diner would be more casual, less formal.

Dark- the unknown, the mysterious, or the unconscious.

Kitchen- where one is fed or nurtured physically, mentally, spiritually.

Light- associated with great lessons, great truths, or higher knowledge.  That which provides illumination for others.

Waitress/Server- taking or giving orders or being of service. May symbolize what one is waiting for.

Uniform/Clothes- associated with one’s duty, occupation or state of mind.

Cap/Headdress- associated with an idea, an opinion, or an attitude. May represent an individual’s occupation or that with which they are involved.

Aunt-what that person symbolizes or represent to me, or someone like that person.

I move logically (my husband) into a new phase of development where I am to be fed or nurtured physically, mentally, spiritually in a more casual manner (diner).  I am not fully aware of what this new development is yet (dark/mystery) but there is some illumination (light) coming from the source of this learning (kitchen).  This seems to be associated with my giving/receiving orders (waitress) in my duty or occupation and the attitude I should have (uniform and cap).  But I am very leery of it because I think I could be a target of disrespectful behavior (aunt) in the course of what happens.  I’m not sure I want to tolerate that.

This seems to be saying that there will be a change coming at my work which requires me to have a specific attitude in the course of giving orders/receiving orders.  I might even be the subject of disrespectful behavior.  I will have to decide if it is worth it to me to tolerate that.  I will definitely keep this in mind as the situation develops.

SEEING MYSELF AS FAT?

Funny dream.

I saw my reflection in a glass door just as I was going to go through it.  I stopped and looked again because it didn’t look right.  In the reflection, I was quite fat, obese even.  My waist was quite large.  I had a half shirt on so that my stomach was exposed.  I turned sideways to look and saw a huge lump of fat turning to the left in the shape of a mountain.  It looked quite gross.  I stepped back and looked at myself from top to bottom and saw that even my legs were lumpy and fat and misshapen.  I was quite shocked as I didn’t think I had been eating so poorly I would have gained weight like that.  I knew I hadn’t been eating as well as I should have, but not that excessively.  I thought, “I have to go on a diet immediately and seriously start counting my calories and cutting back.”  I knew I couldn’t let myself stay that way.  I turned away and thought perhaps I had been mistaken and hadn’t seen myself correctly.  I looked again and gave a huge sigh of relief.  I looked like my normal self, and not obese.  Overweight yes, but not obese.  I was greatly relieved.  But I also knew I needed to be careful and not allow myself to overeat and gain weight.  I needed to be vigilant now and not after the fact.

SIGNIFICANT SYMBOLS:

Door-opportunities, directions, or new pathways to personal expression

Image/Reflection-the need for self-reflection and examination.  A representation of an experience, an activity, a thought, or an individual.

Body-symbolizes the self. Can correspond to one’s situation or the environment in which one lives.

Fat-something excessive, overweight, overly pronounced, or very productive.  Something that is weighted down by worries, emotions, or problems.

Stomach-assimilation, digestion, or personal constitution.

Left-associated with the past, receptivity, open-mindedness, or liberal ideas, and the West.

Mountain-represents higher states of mental development.  A great challenge or obstacle that is to be overcome or an ambition that one has chosen.

Legs-one’s foundation, principles, or morals.

I am passing through a new opportunity or direction (door).  I pause in self-reflection and examination (image in glass door) when I think I see something that isn’t correct (body image is different than what I thought).  I see myself (body) as being weighted down by worries, emotions, or problems (fat).  Two areas I notice in particular- first, my ability to too easily assimilate or digest (stomach) particular liberal ideas or past issues (left).  This could be a great challenge to me (mountain). Second, my foundations, principles or morals (legs) appear unsightly.  I must be very careful and work on making these better (losing weight) before it is too late (becoming obese).  I worry this is how I am now, and look again (recheck image).  I realize I am still okay right now.  But I must be very careful and not lose control of myself to the point where I accept particular ideas in an unhealthy manner and my foundations, principles or morals become unsightly.

According to the dream, I am coming into a new opportunity and must be prepared to be mindful of what I choose to accept and how I behave.  If not, I could lose control of myself and become unsightly in my own eyes and the eyes of others.

FLYING TO SAFETY

In the dream, I was in a downtown area of a city that had been deliberately attacked and partially destroyed.  I knew that it was going to be attacked again.  I knew I would have to be there for when it happened but didn’t want to hide in the rubble until then.  I looked around to see where I should go.  I didn’t see anyone around.  I decided I would fly out of the area and next thing I knew I was in a small blue and white plane by myself.  I knew the plane was mine and that I could fly it.  I flew out over the ocean and saw an island ahead.  It looked like a semi-desert island such as what I would see off of the coast of southern California.  It was small but looked inviting.  I decided I would try and land there and headed towards it.  When the time was right, I would go back to the place I had been.

SIGNIFICANT SYMBOLS:

City-one’s community, environment or current situation. Can also represent various aspects of one’s self.  Each city can represent what you personally think of that city.  The area of the city can also indicate what part of oneself is represented or how it is being affected.  Downtown in a city is usually where the heart of city government and business originates.

Attack-a conflict between oneself and others or a portion of oneself.  Associated with feeling inferior, weak, criticized.

Fly-associated with rising above or overcoming a situation or experience.  To journey freely in understanding.

Airplane-lofty idea or project.

Blue-often associated with spiritual truth or insight.

White-generally associated with purity, virginity, innocence, holiness, spiritual.  The ideal of completeness.

Ocean-the deepest reaches of the soul, the unconscious, or the emotions.  An ocean journey can symbolize an emotional or spiritual experience.  Associated with a spiritual journey or a life journey.

Island-could correspond to a place of safety from the environment.  Associated with something that is isolated.

Semi-Desert-something which may not be very fertile, or is somewhat bleak, or almost abandoned.  It’s ability to grow ideas/spirituality/etc is limited.

In this dream, my current business/work situation (downtown city) has been under attack.  I know it will be attacked again but don’t want to just wait for it.  I decide to take myself emotionally/mentally/spiritually above the situation (flying) by using lofty ideas (airplane).  These are ideas I have gained from spiritual truth/insight (blue) and the ideal of completeness (white).  This is an emotional/spiritual experience for me (ocean journey).  These ideas take me to a place of safety (island) from these attacks.  But this place of safety is limited in its ability to allow spiritual/mental growth (semi-desert). It is only meant to be temporary.

This addresses a situation I have been facing at my work with the installment of a new head boss.  Every boss has their own idea of what should be done and who should be doing it, and so tend to come in questioning everyone’s capabilities and duties.  It has been stressful for me so far and it is not over yet.  This dream helped warn me that this time of trouble is not over, but also I have some respite during the midst of it due to my thinking.

GIVING UP FORTUNE COOKIES

Funny dream.

I was at home and my daughter showed up unannounced.  She was casually dressed in a black t-shirt and jeans and seemed to be carrying something in the front of her shirt . I had been about to leave and so had my purse in hand.  It was black and handheld and very business like.  Without a word, she opened my purse and stuffed hundreds of paper fortunes inside the purse.  This was what she had been carrying in the front of her shirt.  They were the paper fortunes you get in fortune cookies.  There were so many they overflowed from the top and bulged the purse out.  Hundreds, if not over a thousand.  Once done, she walked off to make herself comfortable in the house.  She seemed to be moving back in.   I was very surprised as I didn’t expect her home and certainly didn’t expect her action with the paper fortunes.

SIGNIFICANT SYMBOLS:

House/House-one’s personality or current situation or experience.

Living Room-one’s state of mind or environment.  Could correspond to one’s daily activities or a more formal and public life.

Daughter-Can represent the relationship with your actual daughter or a warning about your daughter or what she might represent to you.  That part of one’s self that might need direction.  Might represent someone else who is like your daughter in personality or relationship.

Shirt- the outer personality shown to others.  One’s own thoughts, ideas, occupation.  A black shirt might symbolize a stance indicating one’s understanding of the “mysteries of God”.

Black-knowledge associated with the unknown, the unconsciousness, or the suppressed. Mystery.  The unknown or unconscious knowledge we have which is being brought to our awareness.

Jeans/pants-one’s personal identity, philosophy, or direction.  Jeans (getting down to work or easy journey).

Purse-that which carries one’s ideas, resources, attitudes, or emotions.  One’s identity.

Fortunes-wishful or hopeful thinking.

Moving-can correspond to a change or progression in understanding or consciousness.

This dream indicates a significant change in thinking for myself and/or my daughter.   In my current state of consciousness (at home), an aspect of my spirituality (daughter) makes itself known to me in my current state of mind (living room).    This aspect of my spirituality is shown in my outer personality (shirt) and shows some understanding of the “mysteries of God” (black).  It is part of my personal identity (pants) and indicates I might be “getting down to work” (jeans).  I am about to take care of something outside of myself (leaving the house to run errand or work) and am being “businesslike” in my attitude  while also showing an understanding of the “mysteries of God” in my attitude (black purse).  This new aspect of my spirituality has placed all of my “wishful/hopeful” thinking (fortunes) into this businesslike attitude I now have.  I am not expecting this and am not quite sure what to think when it is obvious that this new aspect of my spirituality seems to be staying.

This is indicative of a new development in my attitude/behavior  where the wishful thinking I indulge in becomes more focused on things I might actually be able to do and not just what I would like to do.  I would like to be a Rock star, but that is highly unlikely since I can’t sing.  Instead, I am more aware of my actual abilities and personal inclinations and am now more inclined to focus on what I can actually do versus what I would like to do.

This dream could also be about my daughter in real life, and changes she is making in her attitudes and behaviors.  Only time will tell.

WALKING THROUGH A HAUNTED HOUSE

Interesting dream.

I was with my daughter and we were about to walk through an Haunted House adventure.  We both knew the “monsters” we would see inside were just actors in costumes, but my daughter was still very scared.  She seemed only to be going because I was with her.  As we approached, I noticed one of the actors peeking out and knew I needed to be ready as soon as we walked in.  We entered the front door into a hallway.  It was empty.  We followed the hallway into another hallway, again still empty.  It was getting darker and darker as we went.  The second hallway led into a third, which appeared to be almost pitch black.  Again I saw one of the “monsters” peeking out and knew this was where they would finally start scaring us.  We stepped into the dark hallway and turned a corner and there were two of the “monsters”.  They were dressed all in black and had the appearance of being vampires, but their skin was blue and their eyes red, so that they also appeared to be part zombie and/or alien.  They had vicious looking, sharp teeth.  One of them approached within touching distance of me.  I put my arm up to stop him from touching me, and he went to bite my hand.   I wasn’t expecting that but it turned out to be funny as it felt like he had a plastic mouthguard in his mouth and merely applied pressure to my hand.  The bite wasn’t even hard enough to leave a mark.  This made me laugh and I was suddenly no longer afraid.  I told my daughter about the bite.

SIGNIFICANT SYMBOLS:

Daughter-Can represent the relationship with your actual daughter or a warning about your daughter or what she might represent to you.  That part of one’s self that might need direction.  Might represent someone else who is like your daughter in personality or relationship.

House-one’s personality or current situation or experience.

Bite-Can symbolize that which is gnawing, irritating or bugging one.  That which is sucking the life out of you or another.

I am either literally working with my daughter and/or  working with a part of myself represented by her, which in my mind is my spirituality (daughter).   I(We) am/are about to travel through an experience which can be scary but is not harmful (Haunted House adventure).  We will be facing irrational thoughts/behaviors/fears (monsters) but we also know logically they can not hurt us because they are something we hide behind as we present ourselves to the world and are not real (actors in costumes).  We begin the transition in consciousness (hall).  As we do, we go deeper and deeper into the unknown or unconscious knowledge we carry within ourselves and which is now coming into our conscious awareness (dark/black).  This journey is through body/mind/spirit, as represented by the (three) hallways.  When we turn a corner in our spirituality,  as represented in the dream by turning a corner in the hallway, we are confronted by two irrational thoughts and behaviors and/or fears (two monsters) about our roles in life (costumes).    These thoughts/behaviors try to suck the life out of one (vampires) and are an instinctual and mindless way of behaving (zombies) as well as seeming foreign or unknown (alien) to myself.  They reveal some spiritual truth or insight about one’s self (blue skin) and they also reveal our desires in regards to our outlook on life (red eyes).  These thoughts/behaviors try to effect my ability to reach out to others or be of service (arm).  They are represented by words said that appear harmful (vampire teeth) and I find them irritating/gnawing at me (bite).  But I find to my delight that I am completely unharmed and consequently no longer afraid of facing these “monsters”.  I explain to my daughter what I have discovered.

All of us have dreams of what we would like to do in our lives, but in the end what actually does occur is limited by our own willingness and talent to make those things happen.  I believe this dream addresses my becoming more honest with myself about what I am capable of accomplishing and what I am actually willing to accomplish.  For example, perhaps I am smart enough to be a doctor, and the idea sounds wonderful (helping people, the prestige, the money), but am I willing to work really hard and for a very long time to accomplish that goal? The answer is no.  The idea is nice, but the reality is I am not willing to do the work to accomplish the dream.  I believe this is true of most dreams people have.  There are many things we find interesting or enticing, but we need to be honest with ourselves about what we are actually willing to do to make those things happen.  We can waste a lot of time thinking we want something to happen, but if we gave the matter real thought and considered the consequences of what would follow, we might quickly realize “I don’t want that.” I’m not saying to give up on your dreams.  I am saying be honest with yourself about what you are actually willing to do so that you can better focus on what will work for you and not waste time and energy on something that won’t work.  If you do this, you will find yourself happier because you are making choices based on who you really are and not on an idea of who you like to pretend you are.

REUNION WITH A RELATIVE

This was a precognitive dream.

In the dream, I was with a male relative I hadn’t spoken to in three years due to a disagreement.  But in the dream, we were speaking again for the first time.  We were standing outside in someone’s yard and there were three small children playing in front of us.  I assumed they were his grandchildren but didn’t know for sure. We watched them as they squatted on the ground and played with toys.  Our conversation seemed to be going well.  But I knew he was still very angry with me.  Then I understood that he was really angry with himself because of all the mistakes he has made that led to some very devastating events in his life.

SIGNIFICANT SYMBOLS:

Relative- the person themselves or what they represent to me.  The relationship you have with that person.  Could indicate a suggestion or warning in terms of the relative’s welfare.

Talking/Speaking-Communicating.

Outside-what one is cultivating currently.

Yard-Awaiting what comes next in life.

Three-Body, mind and spirit. Trinity.  Great strength.  May represent a particular situation or experience of the same age in your life.

Children-A new beginning or fresh start.  May represent a particular situation or experience of the same age in your life (a project, business, memory).  May represent actual children one knows.

I am communicating (talking/speaking) with this particular relative (the actual relative in the dream) due to what is currently being cultivated in our lives (outside) while we await what comes next (yard).  This is a new beginning or fresh start (children) which has its roots in the physical/mental/spiritual aspects of our lives (three).  I am aware he is still very angry with me, but I also know that he is really angry with himself because of the things he did which caused great harm to himself.

At the time I had this dream, I was not expecting to be in communication with this relative.  I had not received any word that anything had changed.  It was a coincidence that I ended up speaking to him a week or two later and we both apologized for not behaving better.  In the conversation, he informed me of great changes in his life which hopefully will lead to positive physical, mental and spiritual growth.  The children could also represent my relative’s actual grandchildren, of which he has three.  They are young and he loves them dearly and could be the very thing he must focus on to keep on a positive physical/mental/spiritual path.

There was also a very clear message in the dream about my relative’s state of mind.  He is still angry with me, but really angry with himself.  This is the type of anger that does not go away easily and must be worked through by learning to accept the errors you have made in thinking and behavior which have caused great harm to yourself and possibly others.  Once you have taken responsibility for your own thinking and actions and determined to correct that thinking and behavior, then you must also forgive yourself for those mistakes and errors in judgment.  It is good for me to  know he is going through this development in his personal growth, as it will help me in continuing a relationship with this relative and remembering to be patient as he works through these issues.
