In the dream, I was in a downtown area of a city that had been deliberately attacked and partially destroyed.  I knew that it was going to be attacked again.  I knew I would have to be there for when it happened but didn’t want to hide in the rubble until then.  I looked around to see where I should go.  I didn’t see anyone around.  I decided I would fly out of the area and next thing I knew I was in a small blue and white plane by myself.  I knew the plane was mine and that I could fly it.  I flew out over the ocean and saw an island ahead.  It looked like a semi-desert island such as what I would see off of the coast of southern California.  It was small but looked inviting.  I decided I would try and land there and headed towards it.  When the time was right, I would go back to the place I had been.

SIGNIFICANT SYMBOLS:

City-one’s community, environment or current situation. Can also represent various aspects of one’s self.  Each city can represent what you personally think of that city.  The area of the city can also indicate what part of oneself is represented or how it is being affected.  Downtown in a city is usually where the heart of city government and business originates.

Attack-a conflict between oneself and others or a portion of oneself.  Associated with feeling inferior, weak, criticized.

Fly-associated with rising above or overcoming a situation or experience.  To journey freely in understanding.

Airplane-lofty idea or project.

Blue-often associated with spiritual truth or insight.

White-generally associated with purity, virginity, innocence, holiness, spiritual.  The ideal of completeness.

Ocean-the deepest reaches of the soul, the unconscious, or the emotions.  An ocean journey can symbolize an emotional or spiritual experience.  Associated with a spiritual journey or a life journey.

Island-could correspond to a place of safety from the environment.  Associated with something that is isolated.

Semi-Desert-something which may not be very fertile, or is somewhat bleak, or almost abandoned.  It’s ability to grow ideas/spirituality/etc is limited.

In this dream, my current business/work situation (downtown city) has been under attack.  I know it will be attacked again but don’t want to just wait for it.  I decide to take myself emotionally/mentally/spiritually above the situation (flying) by using lofty ideas (airplane).  These are ideas I have gained from spiritual truth/insight (blue) and the ideal of completeness (white).  This is an emotional/spiritual experience for me (ocean journey).  These ideas take me to a place of safety (island) from these attacks.  But this place of safety is limited in its ability to allow spiritual/mental growth (semi-desert). It is only meant to be temporary.

This addresses a situation I have been facing at my work with the installment of a new head boss.  Every boss has their own idea of what should be done and who should be doing it, and so tend to come in questioning everyone’s capabilities and duties.  It has been stressful for me so far and it is not over yet.  This dream helped warn me that this time of trouble is not over, but also I have some respite during the midst of it due to my thinking.
