05/13/15: ZOMBIES IN THE SCHOOL

This dream is indicative of a mental leap I have made in my spiritual growth.  I passed through several different events thinking one way, and once out of those situations, I gained a different perspective and could more clearly see what was actually occurring.

In the dream, I was in a large school.  I needed to make my way out, but in every room I needed to pass through, there were zombies.  You had to do your best and get past them without being attacked.  The only good thing was that they didn’t follow you into the next room.  I made my way through each room, very carefully, and finally out the front door, making sure to close it after me in case they followed.  I took several steps away from the building, then turned back to look.  The entire wall facing me was made of glass.  I could easily see in to some of the rooms I had passed through and the zombies in each.  I noticed then that the zombies didn’t attack at any provocation.  Instead, they only appeared to attack if one blocked them from doing what they were trying to do.  For example, in the last room I had passed through, the zombies were trying to approach the door out and pass through it.  I could see someone blocking their way by putting a desk or chair in front of them.  Before this, they had not noticed the individual.  But as soon as the person did this, they became enraged and tried to attack her.  I realized then that had always been their behavior, but I hadn’t noticed, thinking instead that they attacked at anything.  I knew then that as long as one didn’t block whatever the zombies were attempting, they could safely pass them at any time.

The zombies represent an instinctual or mindless way of reacting and/or behaving when in specific situations or relationships.  Everyone reacts instinctively when feeling provoked or under threat.  Some people become angry and some fearful but then will attack whatever is making them feel vulnerable.  This can be others saying or doing something that we don’t like or agree with, or it can even be a new thought system we learn that puts into question our current behavior.  The dream indicates that as I have grown mentally/spiritually, I have had to work through several different behaviors I instinctively used.  While in the process of working through these issues, I assumed that the old thinking had to be blocked.  Now that I have worked through the issues represented, I understand that I didn’t need to block those thinking patterns.  I merely needed to avoid them and use new thinking/behaviors.  By leaving the old thinking patterns alone and just bypassing them with new thinking patterns, the change was much easier and smoother to make and far more effective.  This is true as well in our outward relationships.  We cannot change the behaviors of others.  If we attack their behavior, this is generally met with anger and resistance, and we will be attacked as well.  We can still grow and change while leaving others alone to do what they think is right.
